Larch Cottage, Positives and negatives
In general: Positives - This cottage, is set in it's own piece of land and is surrounded by fields. forestry and a river. There is a stob and wire fence and a gate to keep your dog (if you have one) within the property. The garden area is huge and is well maintained. The cottage (or cabin) is well appointed, although there is no washing machine. It's very homely. The bed mattresses are quite firm. The shower is adequate, Parking is good. The peace and quiet is unrivalled. Negatives - The housekeeping is needing some help. The cutlery drawer was filthy. The couches were covered in dog hair. Every light fitting had spiders webs. A few lights didn't work on arrival. When we pointed these things out to the owner - there was no response - just an awkward silence. Location and surroundings: This is also a perfect spot for local exploring and and driving north through the beautiful Glenshee. We also visited the beautiful and scary Reekie Linn falls. Take great care. Dog on lead, hold onto your kids. Not for the faint hearted. Service: AS above - Negatives - The housekeeping is needing some help. The cutlery drawer was filthy. When we pointed these things out to the owner - there was no response - just an awkward silence. So I spent my first hour there, cleaning all the cutlery and the drawer itself. Pictures below. I've seen other reviews where this place get's 'cleanliness reviews of '10! Dining: Local hotel. Nearest shops and take-aways are about 10 miles. Sports and leisure: Hiking - a definite great place to explore from. Useful tips: It is well worth a visit if you need the quiet, or need a holiday in kind of safe environment for your dog to run around. Just be careful with dogs in wet weather - there were a lot of slugs in the grass.
